A very surprising decision! The management of the Saudi Arabian club and Steven Gerrard have agreed a contract extension despite the miserable results. The English manager has signed a two-year extension until 2027.
Steven Gerrard joined the club’s bench last July and became part of Saudi Arabia’s project to become a football power.
Along with the English coach, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Moussa Dembele and Demarai Gray have also joined the club. However, the former is currently finalising his move back to Europe after just six months, where he is expected to strengthen Dutch side Ajax.
Looking at the club’s recent results, the question of what’s next for Gerrard was on the table. The club have not won a single game out of their last nine and are only eighth in the league table. Despite some very sound signings, the club is struggling shooting-wise, and when compared to the leader Al Hilal, it scored thirty-seven fewer goals!
However, the club’s management believes in the project they have entrusted to the English coach and are planning financial support for the arrival of more reinforcements to help in the club’s development.
Steven Gerrard was under contract until 2025. However, the club believe in his ability and so have agreed a two-year extension now.
